We hope to raise enough money to provide a great Christmas for two boys (ages 5 & 7) and a girl (age 7). Much of the money we raise will be used to buy clothing and shoes as well as a few special items that match their individual interests. The five-year-old boy is very active and enjoys playing with monster trucks. The older boy is shy and likes arts and crafts as well as riding his bike. The seven-year-old girl loves to dress up and also enjoys reading. This family could really use our help.
The Adopt-A-Family program is administered through The Children’s Foundation. This program is different from other holiday programs in that it is not an “open enrollment” program. All of the recipients have a relationship with their caseworkers and meet with them regularly. All Adopt-A-Family recipients sign a contract agreeing that they will not seek benefits from other holiday programs unless it is for food, or for coats through the Salvation Army. Adopt-A-Family does not do coats because the coats would be needed before they receive their Adopt-A-Family gifts.
So, let’s all get together to jointly adopt a family for Christmas and to have a really fun run. There will be a brunch after the run. In addition to her coffee cake, Meg has a great breakfast casserole and many other items planned. Bring something to share if you wish.
